The Fun & Bliss Show with Caterina Rando
in my case, helping women thrive in their business. But it's not just about, they're making money. It's about watching a gal who has dream realize that dream. Watching a gal who wants to help others through her business start to help others and see that ripple effect. And I always tell my clients and myself, I'm not in the business. I'm in this. empowerment business. And that's what makes me feel bliss is seeing the impact of my empowerment. And For me, bliss is closely aligned with the freedom to make your own choices and being able to do what you want to do. And a lot of times that is because you have the time freedom and or the money freedom.
Welcome to the Fun & Bliss Show. Where fun is our practice. And bliss is our lifestyle. I'm Moneeka. And I'm Monick. This is a show to help you laugh louder. Dance more often. Savor the silly and sacred alike. And turn fun into a blisscipline. So we can live lives of more ease, love, prosperity, and joy. Let's go!
Hey y'all, this is Moneeka, author of Fun is the Way. And hi, this is Moneeka, author of Choose Bliss, the upcoming movie Choose Bliss, and the upcoming movie The Christmas Rescue.
Welcome back to the show. So Monica, what was the last thing you did for fun? So this morning, I met with my director for the Christmas rescue, because we're in pre-production, and he wanted to put together all the information and the website and all this stuff for our casting call, which is, just doing all this stuff is fun. But what was the really funnest part about this? is he put together this beautiful graphic. It's got a cute little Pomeranian. It was so cute. But at the very top now it says, Blissful Productions presents. It's the very first time I'm using my production company's name. I'm so, it was just it just filled me up, ?
I love that. And congrats. I'm so excited. Thank you. I love hearing the making of the movie as we. As we do this, it's so wonderful. Thank you. So what did you do that was fun today? I got to speak at this really cool summit. It's called the Purpose-Driven Income Summit. And I spoke about bringing fun into your business. I spoke about using fun to move your business from FINE, which I define as flat, isolating, numbing, and exhausting, to FIRE: fun, invigorating, rewarding, and exhilarating. So I had so much fun doing that. It was such a blast. So that was my fun. it was, yeah. And it kind of reminded me, because we had this great interview today about the power of having fun in your business. And I, so we're gonna be talking, everybody listening.
Today we're gonna introduce you to Caterina Rando. Caterina, before I read her bio, I just wanna share a little bit about her. She is truly the ultimate example of what bringing fun to your business really looks . And I think you'll see that as you get to know her today. But when I wrote my book, Choose Bliss, I was looking for coaches. to who really got it. when you get a coach, you want somebody who really gets your business, your values, your what you're trying to present. You don't want just someone who's kind of yeah, that sounds great. This is how you do it. what ? you want someone who's in it. And she really is. We really connected on the word bliss. And you'll hear more about that during the show too. But she was the very first coach that taught me how to speak. So she was the lady who supported me to start. the whole movement that I began nine years ago. And I feel so blessed to have known her. But before we introduce you to her in the show, let me go ahead and read her bio for you. So Caterina Rando I'm so excited I can't talk. Caterina Rando is a woman on a mission to uplift the lives of women everywhere through thriving entrepreneurship. She is an author, sought-after speaker, podcaster, and business transformation coach who has passionately served women leaders and entrepreneurs for more than 30 years, helping them massively monetize their mastery. Caterina is all about positivity, integrity, generosity, community, and providing massive value while uplifting others. One of her favorite expressions is, “I’m blissing.” Well, we were listening and hearing her and you are going to be listening to she is really, she really exemplifies and lives and personifies what we're doing here at the fun and bliss show. really about bringing joy, presence, fun bliss into your lives and into the community that you're surrounding yourself with. Yeah. So today we're gonna dive deep into Caterina's journey of how she became this amazing woman that she is. she started that way, but we make ourselves, we make choices. And she talks about that freedom, choice, and how that allows us to live our most blissful lives and run the most blissful businesses we can. You are gonna love this interview. So let's get into it.
Welcome, Caterina. We are so thrilled to have you. I'm wishing to be with you. Caterina, always love seeing you. I'm blissing seeing you too.
Hey, Caterina, could you share with us what having a blissful life means to you in everyday terms? What I want for everyone is that they get to be themselves. They get to do their thing. They get to serve the people they feel called to serve. And they also get to monetize their mastery in a meaningful way. For me, as I'm an entrepreneur. And I find that when you're an entrepreneur, you get to live an authentic life. Be yourself, do your thing, serve your people, make money. And there's so many people on the planet that don't get to do that. And that's why I to talk about blissing in your business. And if people have a career, want them to bliss there too. The thing is that sometimes it's hard when you're not in control of your time, where you gotta be. And that's why freedom is my top value. Yeah, freedom is my top value too, for sure. Can you mean it? And the thing is, it's very interesting because in America we have a lot of freedom and we may not have time freedom. We may not have money freedom. So we don't necessarily think about that as freedom, but really, if we were to lose anything, it's our freedom that for most of us would be a terrible life, ? And so it is important that we acknowledge that when you do have freedom, freedom of where you live, freedom of what you do, freedom of financial resources, that really helps you bless in your life. good. I'd love that. ask you to share your story. How did you get started doing what you're doing, helping people bliss, blissing in their lives and their businesses?
My first business was I owned a cafe and a catering business. My sister started it and then she decided to move to Hawaii. So I ran it. Never really wanted to be, in food service for sure. I found that I liked the people part. business and I liked the business part of business. And I was trying to figure out what my true calling was because I knew it wasn't making sandwiches and I knew it wasn't delivering catering trays across town. And one day, a woman walked into my café and she says, Caterina, thank you so much for the business advice you gave me. It made a huge difference. and her smile was so big and I could see her joy and I felt a genuine pang of bliss in my heart when she said that. And then I thought, okay, that's what I'm gonna do with my life. Now the thing is that a lot of times we have those moments of bliss or joy or uh-huh, but we don't necessarily change anything because we don't necessarily know how we're gonna get wherever we wanna go. And I want to tell people that the decision is the most important thing. You make the decision and then you make the plan and then you figure it out. And that's what I did. I had actually a coach at the time. She was one of the founders of the first West coaches, coaches training Institute. She thought I would be a good coach, which is so funny because now, yeah, now I can speak and I can, be confident, but at the time I was very introverted and shy and lacked a lot of confidence. And it's a beautiful thing when someone holds a bigger vision for us than we hold for ourselves. And I grew into that vision after her mentioning it to me and reminding me all the time. It's so interesting to hear that story of you, Caterina, because You were one of my first coaches and I've always seen you as this very confident person. But me too, I've been a lot you, right? I am also a very introverted person. So it was a gift to have you come to me as a speaking coach to help turn me into what people see today. Also, it's really a powerful thing.
One of the things that we connected on very early on was this word bliss, right? I wrote my book, Choose Bliss, and you were all over it. You were my gosh, I love that word. So I have a couple of questions for you around just our connection around bliss. First of all, you and I define bliss differently. So I'd you to define bliss. As a matter of fact, you and I have a contradiction in our definitions. don't know if you remember that. But then I also want to hear the story of the word blissing. So could you share both of those with us? Yeah. Well, for me, what I talked about earlier is bliss. be myself, do my thing, serve my people, have the impact I wanna have. My family is stressing me because they want me to retire. And to me, if you're retired, that means you're not doing the work you're called to do in the world. And I don't find any bigger joy or anything that brings me more bliss than help, in my case, helping women thrive in their business. But it's not just about, they're making money. It's about watching a gal who has a dream realize that dream. Watching a gal who wants to help others through her business start to help others and see that ripple effect. And I always tell my clients and myself, I'm not in the business. I'm in the empowerment business. And that's what makes me feel bliss is seeing the impact of my empowerment. And I do think for me, and Moneeka, that bliss is very aligned to the freedom of making your own choices and being able to do what you want to do. And a lot of times that is because you have the time freedom and or the money freedom. That's amazing. Could you tell us the story of your word, blissing?
I love that. I have no idea how it started. I'm listening because it's I'm I'm I'm in the state of bliss. Blissing is an action word I'm writing or I'm speaking. I'm listening. do too. Yeah. And yeah, I to say that. I to say I'm listening. My tagline these days is keep listening. it's just And I think it's really good for us to put attention on the joy, the happiness of life. And especially when I'm talking business, because I say to everybody, your business is supposed to be your bliss. If you're not blissing while you're doing your thing, go do something else. And I think that we're acculturated, especially, perhaps not Gen X and Y and... I don't know whatever comes after that. But the idea that work is supposed to be hard. And if you're doing it right, it's not hard. It's awesome. Earlier today, I'm reflecting on the fact that I was talking with a friend of mine who was interviewing me for her thing. And we got off the interview and I was this is so great. I get to talk to great gals all day I'm doing right now. part of what I get to do in my work. that makes me so happy. And that's what I want for everybody that they are loving. of course there's challenges. know, call them, challenges du jour. Sure. You're in your business, in your life. Most of the time though, let's make sure we're blissing. Yes. my gosh.
I love that. I this is what our whole show is about, right? Exactly. And our movement. Fun and bliss, because we want people to use fun, we call it blisscipline, fun as a blisscipline, bliss as a lifestyle. So my question for you is what do you do for fun these days? So I'm very big on travel, Moneeka. Now, I know everyone says they love to travel, but I travel. I went to Thailand in July, had the best time. I went to Alaska in... In August, I went to Italy in September. I think it was September. I was in Italy and I had an amazing time. And I also lead women's retreats and we are doing a, we do, we were going to Alaska on a cruise. We're going to Mexico on a cruise. And I love to travel with women. That is the most thing that brings me bliss. also, so I'm a city mouse. Okay. Do not say to me, I'm looking for a new boyfriend, by the way. Keep your eyes open for me. do not invite me for a hike, okay? I do enjoy nature, but it's I'm a city mouse. I to go to the museums. I to go to nice restaurants. Sure, I to walk around the city. And yes, I will go to the beach and I will go to the park and all that. But my bliss is really aesthetics. I love aesthetics. And in fact, one of the things I'm doing just for fun next year is I'm going to Milan and I'm going to go to fashion school for a week to become a stylist. Now, not that I'm going to be a stylist in my business. Maybe, I don't know, we'll see maybe, but really I'm a style enthusiast. And so I thought it would be really fun to do that. do something just for the fun of it with no plans.
I love that Caterina. And both Moneeka and I are big travelers. As a matter of fact, we just came back from a retreat in Bali together because of our passion for travel. So, we all travel a little bit differently, but it's definitely a big piece of what bliss and fun looks for all of us. So, Caterina, one of the things that I know about you and that I've learned from you as a coach is that you do have rituals that you do. For instance, when we were setting up today, you put those roses and made those really prominent in our show because there are things that make you feel blissing and blissed out and happy and bring out your very best self in every moment. And could you share some of those? actual rituals that you do for yourself so that they might be ideas to spring rituals for us. Yeah, well, I will say I never thought of it as a ritual. And yes, I always have two dozen roses behind me. That's because they come from Costco and they do. And but what's fun is that they're always different colors. I just order them and the guy brings them and I don't know what colors they're going to be. Part of it is because Again, back to aesthetics. wanna surround yourself with beauty. And in a Zoom room, it's good to have something beautiful that people can look at. And if we go to Feng Shui, Feng Shui says don't have an abstract painting behind you because abstract is kind of confusing for the eye. if you have Monica has butterflies, something that is beautiful. then that is soothing to the person looking at it. But if it's abstract, something, then it's not soothing to the eye. Anyway, that's the Feng Shui tip for today. So that's why I always have roses. And I will tell you that the rituals is something that I guess, Moneeka, you could tell me if you've seen any other ones, but I know that successful people have a... a.m. routine and a p.m. routine that they get to bed by a certain time they get up by a certain time they meditate they work out all of that and I am still working on mastering my a.m. routine and my p.m. routine because I am naturally a night owl I love to stay up late and I find the light between six and nine is kind of my I'm tired time and then at nine o'clock I shh perk up and I've got all these brilliant ideas and I want to do all these things. And so I still struggle with getting my fanny to bed at a decent hour so that I can get up and exercise. Now this morning I got up early, I exercise and I'm going to say I want to do that every day more for my mental wellbeing than necessarily getting my steps in or my exercise in. I find that it is so powerful to maintaining a state of bliss throughout the day to get a great night's sleep and exercise first thing in the morning. I do want to just make a comment about that, Caterina, because everything you said is bliss rituals. So part of being blissful and having a fun life is really being aware of the cycles of life for yourself. know, Moneeka is up at five o'clock in the morning alive and ready to go and If I needed to get up at five o'clock in the morning, think I'm literally I'm nauseous that early in the morning if I have to get up, right? So for me, I get up at eight or nine and I've got my things that I do, right? But you understand your cycles too from six to nine is when you're kind of in a lull, you take some time for you and then you're on fire again starting at nine. So this idea of we have to go to bed at a certain time and we have to get up at a certain time. I don't actually think it's necessary and it is as entrepreneurs, part of our freedom. We get to be free to be ourselves, you say, Caterina, and we create the schedules that are most aligned with our own biological systems, right? So everything you just said, interestingly, are blissciplines. So I just want to congratulate you because all of those were beautiful rituals and it really highlights that we can have amazing lives. Even if our schedules and our rituals don't look everybody else or what all the coaches say successful people do, we can do our own thing and be our own selves and still be successful. Right. And absolutely. part of it is honoring ourself and not, and I'll speak for women because that's my, my focus is helping serving women is that women beat themselves up too much about not. doing the things, just women beat themselves up every time they eat a cookie. of course that's a generalization. But the thing is I really seen over the years and serving so many women and talking to so many women that they find themselves wrong. A lot of women find themselves wrong when they're not doing X, Y, Z. And yes, that is that is my practice, Monica, and it is to find myself right and I to say no negative self-talk, to pay attention to the negative self-talk that comes out of our mouth. And to, I to, instead of discipline, which I know you have a better word than that, blisscipline. Yeah, I to say, let's be devoted to ourself and what we want to create for ourself. And to pay attention to, we on our back or are we on our side supporting ourself?
I love that. So what is really exciting you these days? What is one thing that's really exciting me is next year I am taking gals to Italy for a retreat and my community has been asking me to do a retreat in Italy for as long as I've been doing retreats, which is since 2012, I believe. And so on my first Italy retreat, I'm very excited about. And I'm also excited because in August, I'll be doing my Amp Up adventure, which is our mastermind cruise for women on a mission. And the way this started was I was doing this retreat on how to do retreats, because that's something else I do. And I said to the gals, I said, OK, and we're on a cruise ship. I said, come to my cabin. We're going to mastermind for 90 minutes, and then we'll go to dinner. And we were still there seven and a half hours later. They were sharing ideas, asking each other's opinions. And I realized, this is what the ladies . They just to get together and be together and blah, blah, blah, and share ideas. And so we've done, we did our last one and then this is our next one. And there is nothing more fun than being stuck on a cruise ship for a week with an amazing group of gals. So yeah, I'm very excited about that. We're travel and. learning and community come together, that is definitely my happy place. I also think that it's your superpower. I wanted to ask you, Caterina, what do you feel is your superpower? The thing that's most you when you're not trying. Well, I would say one of my superpowers is getting the gals together. Yeah. And having a great time, which I know is something that you all are focused on as well with your community. We just did a couple of weeks ago, Fempire Fest, which is the second year I've done it. It's a day, we call it, even though it's three days long, a day of play for women in business on a mission. We start with a silent disco the first night. We do it six to eight, not late at night, six to eight. And then, pajama party. We wear pajamas to the silent disco. And then we have a day of play. We did laughter yoga. My favorite part was we did a sing along. where this gal came with her guitar and we sang women empowerment songs and my heart was so full. It was really beautiful. we had, Monica has participated in one of these. We did accelerated jewelry exchange. theme is love it, never wear it, time to share it. And everyone comes in with their, new accoutrements as a result of the jewelry exchange. And, and, more than anything, they just women love to be in the same room with other amazing women and blah, blah, blah. I used to feel all I gotta do is welcome them when they come in the door and thank them when they leave and whatever happens, gonna say, my God, that was such a great event. And that's what happens. So I would say that's really one of my great superpowers. And then of course, Monick, I love speaking so much and I feel if there was an apocalypse tomorrow, I would give everybody a couple days to regroup and then I would go to Golden Gate Park by my house and say, meet here for how to thrive after the apocalypse. When they came, I would talk to them, give them a talk and then I would say, okay, now join my three month program on super thriving after the apocalypse and everything would be fine. It will and all of us would be there and all of us would be totally super thriving after the apocalypse because that's who you are. It's not a zombie apocalypse. it's a zombie apocalypse, then I have no solutions. would dress up. We would dress up probably as zombies. absolutely. Well, there's that too, but me, I'm Irish, so I'm not going to probably dress up as a zombie. Hopefully that wouldn't be my downfall. But I to be fancy. You can be a fancy zombie. I got too much vanity for that my friend. Halloween, I always want to be the Queen of Hearts or even if I'm a witch I'm a good looking witch. Because I definitely have some vanity and that's okay. That's okay. That's what's fun. I love it. it. Love it. All right.
What's a missed or forgotten truth about staying more blissful or keeping life more fun that our audience should know? So a missed or forgotten truth. Yeah, when we talk about what makes you bliss and all that, we often think about something about us, right? I'm going to travel more or I'm going to get a good night's sleep. I know that makes me bliss more. The thing that I find is the most the biggest, the best ingredient of bliss is creating a criteria for who has the privilege of being in your life and spending more time with the people that make you bliss. Full stop. It is about the people and we get to decide who's earned the privilege of being in our life. And I'm gonna... give you a little unsolicited advice here for cultivating your community. Because I to say that my community is consciously curated. And the gals that get in the door are the gals that are positive, generous, community-minded, operate with integrity. It is their intention to lift other women up. Those are the gals I let in the door, and I pay attention. it's so funny because I just had a conversation with a gal and I said to her, so-and-so filled out a form, she wants to join our community. And I said, I don't think I want a letter in the door. And what she said to me? She said, I know exactly who you're talking about. She said, and we exchanged initials to make sure that we had the same gal. She said, I've had complaints from five gals about her. And so, then I got validation of my thoughts that somebody was not the right match. it wasn't. And believe me, if you're not vibing with somebody, your community is probably not gonna vibe with them. And I tell everybody that gets in the door, I'm looking for two things. I'm looking for women that are gonna gain value, and I'm looking for women that are gonna bring value. And value is not only, they're super smart, real estate experts. It's that they have a big heart. that's value. love, our kindness, our caring, our genuine interest, that's what matters in cultivating community. And blissing in our life is the people that earn the privilege to get to hang out with us. So good, Caterina. Thank you for that. And I'm so honored to be a part of that, that circle with you. Part of what Moneeka and I were attracted to each other was exactly for those same reasons is we have a lot of the same values and we really light each other up. Yeah. Shared values, really. it's interesting because my dad is 94 and my sister and I are very different. She's the gal that goes on the hikes and she, runs up 10 flights of stairs. she's she's always she's very athletic and she's always looking for how can I get more exercise in today? And, and she's the, I don't own a pair of jeans. She's, hangs out in her jeans. Anyway, we're very different. You would think, but we have the exact same values of integrity, generosity, community, kindness. And of course, that's one of the reasons I love my sister. But the thing is people can be totally different than us. have totally different lives when they share the same values as us, that creates sisterhood and friendship. Thank you, Caterina. Thank you.
One of the things that I know is that you have been through some stuff, you show up as your very best self and you're vibrant and bold and you have had some stuff happen. Life gets heavy sometimes. In those moments, doesn't feel blissful, sometimes it even feels hard to get back there. You don't really feel you want to have fun because it feels too much work, right? What would you give advice to women that are in those moments of being stuck to get them back to blissing and having fun, or at least taking those first steps towards it? Because it's not a big jump usually. It takes some steps, but we have to get that momentum going, right? So what would you advise for them? Let me say this. I remember, as I mentioned, I do retreats on cruise ships. And there was a day I got on a cruise ship and I had 23 gals, no, 26 gals with me. And as soon as I got on, I realized we had no space for the, it was a 10 day, no space for 10 days to meet with my gals. And that was the day I learned and everything worked out. I figured it out. I'm gonna give you the whole story. That was the day I learned that I am a determined woman. After getting no all over the place and my whole team's no, no, no, no, I said, I'm going to make this happen. And I did. And we had great week. The ladies loved it. Here's my point. Determination is a quality that we do not talk about enough because there will be disappointment of the day, challenges du jour. And we have to keep our eye on what it is we want to create. A great business, a blissful life, more revenue, whatever it is. And we have to be determined. And we have to keep going every time we feel stopping. That's how I've taken myself out of very difficult times in life and, or a challenge of the day. Determination is what I want more women to cultivate. Because when they do, then they'll reap the rewards. And that's where the bliss comes in. We have to our disappointment, our depressed, our distress, whatever it is, and we have to turn it into determination. What brings you back into ease when things start feeling heavy? I will tell you, Moneeka, I watched General Hospital. That is one of my elixirs. Is that show still on? my God. I think I watched it when I was 13. Yes, it's still on. couple years ago. think it's 65th anniversary or something that. But my point is it's okay to take yourself out once in a while. I also with my dad, I watch Murder, She Wrote. That's my comfort TV with Jessica Fletcher. And so a little bit of that, and Of course, go for a walk, move your body. Those things also help. We have to have those things that we go to, not the shoulds, but the things that we go to that we know, hey, what? It's okay for me to just make myself feel good right now. And we do have to do that because yeah, other people can help with that, but it's our job. We're the one who's with us 24 seven. So we're the one who has to be our own best friend, our own. best success coach, our own biggest supporter. You model that so well too. Thank my friend. you. Yeah. Caterina, what is it that people forget but need to remember about living their most blissful lives? I'm going to say that we talked about freedom as top value. What's their value that I really don't hear enough about? And it's not because people don't have it, but sometimes they take it for granted. is operating with integrity. When you do everything from a place of integrity, you can sleep at night and you will not be worrying. And sometimes integrity isn't easy because sometimes it costs you more time or more money or you have to admit you're wrong or whatever it is. When you hold that as I would say freedom, then integrity, those are my top values. If when you hold Integrity has a top value, then what do you have not to bliss about? You're being a good person, treating other people while not doing anything to hurt anybody, that's bliss. Hopefully you're taking it further where you're uplifting their lives. Integrity is something I want to check in with everybody about because when you're operating 100 % integrity, then you feel good.
If someone listening were to try one tiny experiment this week, something simple but meaningful to have more bliss in their lives, more fun. What would you invite them to try? Well, dancing and music is always really fun. Really, really, and I mentioned about the sing-along, how much I just loved it. It filled my heart. When you're singing, when you're dancing, when you're listening to great music, You cannot be depressed. there is no way you can be depressed. And it's important to bring in tools. Music can be a tool. Moving your body can be a tool. Hanging out with girlfriends can be a tool to uplift yourself. And it's important that we have these things regularly in our life and experiment. another thing Moneeka and Moneeka that I find is a great thing to do that would fall in the experiment category is to take a risk a day. Take a risk a day that supports getting where you want to go. I told you I'm single. I'm looking for my new boyfriend. Well, that means I might have to go to a situation that might be a little bit uncomfortable because There's no dudes in my dining room, my friend. are you felt being willing to be uncomfortable, to create what you want for yourself in your life, that would fall in the experiment category. And I to encourage people to take a risk a day because, because that is a way to move forward. But a risk is not bungee jumping. It's anything that makes you uncomfortable that it would serve you. but that uncomfortableness sometimes can hold you back from taking action. So good, Caterina. And it's too bad they're not dudes in your family room. We need to make that happen. They're missing out. So Caterina, you are so full of such great advice. You've been talking to women for decades now about living their blissful lives.
What have we not talked about yet that you would to share with our listeners about how to live a blissful life? I was talking to a friend of mine this morning and she ran this meeting last week and my assistant put it on for the wrong time zone. I wasn't, so I missed it. I missed the event. And I'm sure she probably didn't even know that I wasn't there, but I wanted to show up to support her because she had recently suffered a loss. And I thought, I don't even need to say anything. But then I thought I didn't want to have a withhold. And a withhold is when we think something, we have a communication and we don't share it because it might create turmoil in the relationship or even some discord. And that's one thing I want to say is don't hold back your communication. And of course we talked about it. And of course now I can forget about it because she was it's no problem. But sometimes we don't say what we want to say, even the good things I love you, or I love being with you, or you make me bliss. we don't say those things because we're not sure how they're going to be received. And the biggest thing I think that uplifts all our relationships in addition to communicating, not holding back the communication, is words of appreciation and acknowledgement. And to tell people, your clients, your friends, I love you. I'm blissing to be with you. Thank you so much for your time today. and the thing is that sometimes people thank people for what they did. Thank you for coming today. That's nice. What's better is when we upgrade that to not only thanking them for what they did, thank them for how they were being while they did it. Thank you for your enthusiastic presentation today. But the best part is when we let people know how it impacted us. Thank you so much for inviting me today. I am blissing to be with you. And as a result of my time with you, I'm gonna be blissing the whole rest of the day. that, how people are impacting us. Let them know because everybody wants to feel seen, heard, welcomed, valued. They wanna know their impact. And the more we can build up our skill of acknowledging others and letting them know how they impact us, the more all of our relationships will be uplifted. Even the guy that delivered my roses yesterday, I said to him, thank you so much for making my day. Thank you for bringing me roses. Now he's just the delivery guy, but did he have a big smile on his face? Did he leave more uplifted than when he showed up? Absolutely. And that's how I want everyone to leave every interaction more uplifted than when they showed up. Well, I know I'm blissing from this conversation and being in your presence. I know every listener is probably smiling from ear to ear. Um, and really grateful to, to be here and listen to this wisdom and this, this fun and joy that you exude.
Well, now we're going to end with our fun and bliss laser round, is quick, fun, first thought answers. So what's one totally silly thing that never fails to make you laugh? I told you my dad's 94. He tells a joke of the day. He says, want to the joke of the day? And always makes me laugh. Even when it's a corny joke, always makes me laugh. What was the last one? Oh, what was the last That you remember. Oh my gosh, what was the last one? Let's see if I can remember a short one. The Michelin star chef goes to the buffet. and he takes a bite and he's done. And the idea is, okay, we have to explain the joke. The buffet was so bad that he only had one bite. Anyway, makes me laugh even though it's very poor joke. What was it I could think of? Because that was the last joke of the day that I heard yesterday. Caterina, it's not lost on me that your joke is about a Michelin star chef. You need to upgrade my jokes too. Caterina, finish the sentence. Okay. to me looks ... A room full of women connecting with big smiles on their face. Yes. Love that. Yes, yes. Love that. And what you talked about music. So what is, do you have a go-to song that you hear it, you just can't help but dance? The song by Bill Withers, “Lovely Day”. That's the one I play a lot. And of course I can't sing it right now because it's left me. morning I was listening to Janis Joplin, who I will not say all of her songs are uplifting, but they've got a great beat and they make you want to sing. And I'm very into pink right now. Mostly because I'm so impressed with her stage presence, but her music is very empowering as well. Love it. So Caterina, could you share with us? I think you have a gift you wanted to share with the audience. Could you tell us a little bit about that? Sure. Well, I'm all about helping women bliss in their business. Wow, that was such a blissing conversation with Caterina Rando. Oh my gosh, isn't she amazing Moneeka? I am so blessed to have a friend her and I'm glad I got to introduce her to everybody. I'm so happy I got to meet her and I know everyone listening is probably, I said, smiling from ear to ear. I have a question for you, because you brought something up during the interview that we didn't get more fully into, but I'm so curious, because you had said that when you were writing your book, Choose Bliss, that she was there, she was your coach and... you had different ideas about what bliss is. Controversial. What's the difference? Yeah. So actually she wasn't there during the writing of the book. I was on the back end when I realized that once you write a book, you have to actually get out there and market it. And I was Oh dear. Okay. So she was one of the people that I hired to help me to get out there more. So, um, but what was so funny is when we, when I first met her, was I love that word bliss. And I was really? What does it mean to you? And she, she defines it in the show, right? It's really about being yourself, feeling the freedom to make choices that will uplift your life. And then of course, it's about being in community, being yourself, a lot that she has kind of tied up in her definition of bliss. My definition of bliss is it's a deep sense of joy and contentment and the feeling that you can do anything that comes your way. Right? It's emotional mastery and emotional resilience. So for me, it's a emotional home plate. And for Caterina, it's a very active, it's an active, I don't even know how, how would you describe it Moneeka? She's it's blissing, right? It's out It's active. It's a verb, right? Yeah. for me- noun. It's a state of being. Right. So for me, it's a noun, it's a state. And for her, it's a verb, it's an action. Um, and as a matter of fact, this will make you guys laugh. When I mentioned that it was the practice of joy and contentment, she literally wrinkled her nose and she was contentment? She's uncomfortable. That was for the person. Yeah, that is uncomfortable every day. That's right. And what I do too? I'm good with it, but I don't want to be so uncomfortable that it pulls me out of this place of. sort of satisfaction and joy that I to rest at, right? Anyway, so it's so funny and it really, really amplifies this message that we're trying to share with listeners here is that we all define bliss differently. We all define fun differently. You don't need to adopt my definition of bliss or your definition of fun. We all get to be individuals and define those things for ourselves. But the important thing is define that. figure it out and then go after it because that's what this is about is really living that life, right? And Caterina and I, love each other to pieces, but we definitely live our bliss differently. what ? Yeah, absolutely. Also, I think that what you're talking about here is a lot of what we're about in both ways, right? So I'm really about blissciplines, which is the practice the doing of the things that make you feel right and that and fun is a I feel a really highly energizing discipline. That's the one. It's about the doing, it's about the practice of what you need to do in order to live a life of in order to choose bliss. And so I love that this I love this conversation because and it's not an either or. I think it's a yes and. The thing is that the Blissiplines lead you to the state. You don't just land in this state of Bliss. No. You have to get there. so, but Caterina's definition of Bliss is the action. I think what is a little bit different, Moneeka, about you and me is that we are headed towards the state of Bliss through the Blissiplines. So for Caterina, the Blissipline is the Bliss. But for you and I, the blisciplines are a path to bliss. And so one is more about the process. Well, both are about the process. But I'm just saying that it's, I think you and I are a little bit more aligned. We're both about the action. But we're headed towards that state. You're very, very focused also on your state, Moneeka, which is one of the things that I love about you. And so is Caterina. I'm not saying she's not. It's just that her focus of bliss looks a little bit different. Does that make sense? It does, though, even though she has a different definition than you, how she describes bliss is also blissful for me. Yes, absolutely. And for me too. And I think that each of us and each of you listening can, as you said, we can each define it how we want. The beautiful thing though is to live it, is to practice it. And that's why I'm so happy that you were here. to get that inspiration. And I hope that you take at least a small step this week, maybe try one of the practices that Caterina shared, or simply ask yourself what will make you feel more bliss in your life. So yes, invite your friends to come join us. Take your takeaways and take action. and share them with the people around you, including if you loved this show, if you love this conversation, share it with someone who might be needing it right now.
